fulfilling

Ok...here's a confession.
I anticipate the new year because it means out with the old. And I'm really, really SICK of the old. Cannot tahan. And sometimes I wish I could blog in signs so that there would be this post, full of signs, that no one can interpret but God and myself, and it's not meaningless because the misunderstood post will make it known that something is on my mind. Webdings can be easily translated to English though

Yesterday, my family and I left Klang for a short trip to Port Dickson. Put up for a night in an apartment and did some sightseeing (Avilion is da bomb).

The next day (today) was the journey home. We used the highway that needed no tolls and it was lovely. The view was splendid, though it was just kelapa sawit plantations (Sime Darby's), and we passed by the Sepang F1 circuit. My thoughts when we passed by the circuit: Lewis Hamilton drove here!
We dropped by KLIA on the way home-which is only around 25km from Jenjarom! So very close.

Drawing up to the magnificent structure, thoughts of the people who left this soil through this airport ran through my mind. Ugh...emo. Totally melancholic. I tell you, this overload of emotions and hormones does me no good, more so since I wasn't there when any of them left Malaysia. =(

(Interestingly, I just met Ashley and Emily C at Aeon last week =D)

The airport is pretty silent and very airy for a Tuesday. We walked around and found the viewing area, where we stayed for a while. Snap snap pictures.

On another note, we also saw the sign "Kem PLKN Princess Haliza" in Sepang. Yin Xian's campsite! And we passed by an NS campsite in Melaka which had a beachfront view. Lovely.

(Ah, i've done the calculation: if i were to follow the assigned NS batch, I will be missing the April and August semesters in college because the thrid batch's duration is July to September. Two semesters equals to eight subjects, or 10 if i plan to take an extra each sem. I have to take 44 subjects to graduate, so if i go for NS i will be delaying nearly 25% of my studies, and graduate later than my fellow coursemates. I don't know whether to laugh or to cry. So i laughed. Cos crying takes effort. Lord, help me.)

Have a

blessed
wonderful

memorable
splendid
God-filled

Rosette Coutures

Rosette Coutures

When I end up spending more than two hours online, it will be because of online fashion boutiques. The clothes, accessories and lovely handmade knick-knacks one can find online can really hold a girl's attention, you know what I mean?

So anyway, Rosette Coutures is the brainchild of one of my close friends, Shannon Keng. (I'm promoting here la) If you, my college friends, see anything you like there, but too lazy to meet her in person to get the stuff, let me know and I can be the middleman to deliver the stuff.

Specialty: Miniature perfumes. Lots of brands, ie Kenzo (pictured). Fast running out!

So you might argue that I might as well keep my nose out of it. I am.

March 26th 2009 is the tentative release date of Yasmin Ahmad's Talentime!

Fcuk. B*tch. @$$hole. Knnccbwtfbbqzomg.

Eh, kids.

Let me tell you something.

Littering your blog posts with all these vulgarities DOES NOT make you cool.
Telling people to f--- themselves will NOT increase the hits to your blog.

What, you think Kenny Sia gets his Nuffnang cash by using all that curse words? NOH! Doh.

It is astounding-young kiddos are using curse words to climb their way to the top of the social ladder. Eh TANGACHI, you know what happens when you use curse words too often? Ugly happens. Don't rebutt with the beauty is inner thing, because by cursing people online, your image has already been tarnished.

THERE IS NO GOOD IN USING VULGAR WORDS ON YOUR BLOG.

Then the girl in the corner speaks out, "But I'm not trying to be good in the first place! I'm already bad!" OKla, since you so bad already, go ahead and be bad. Just don't encourage the people who look up to you to be bad. That's just selfish.

This matter has been bugging me for so long. It's foolish immaturity that teenagers would resort to cursing trivial matters on their blogs.

Traffic jam, so what? The road bully didn't get you right?
You failed your undang, no need to use the F word. RESIT AJE LAH.
That old aunty cut queue in front of you in Tesco, why call her a b!tch?
Gossip about you spreading in school, don't be a mangkuk and add fuel to the fire by blogging about it.

Small matter! All these are.

Let's stop and think about it. The effects of our actions to the people we don't know.

untitled1

A new photogenic space has been located at Aeon! Next to Harvey Norman, the wall behind Polo House.
Janelle, Rachel, Wee Han and I went there after watching Yes Man. (Actually we went to the toilet next to it, but nevermind)

I KNEW Jim Carrey's character was going to sing that "if you never want to see me again" song when he saw the guitar! That was the song he learnt at the guitar lesson:

Carl: (while playing the guitar) I would understaa- *change chord* aaaa- *change chord* aaand!

Credits to Rachel for the pictures. =D
The song is Jumper by Third Eye Blind.

The Spirit movie review

Image was Googled

From the director of 300 and Sin City comes The Spirit.

Honestly, I have no idea why I redeemed the tickets for the early screening. Maybe the opportunity of a free movie was too good to be passed up? Or maybe it was because someone was a fan of Frank Miller's works. Either way, I thank God we managed to get the tickets early. The line was superbly long.

The Malaysian Today screening (thank you Jian Quin for introducing this method to me!) for The Spirit was at 1 Utama, held a few days before the official premiere.

According to imdb.com, The Spirit is:

Rookie cop Denny Colt returns from the beyond as The Spirit, a hero whose mission is to fight against the bad forces in Central City.

The Spirit is a guy flick. It has the superhero with an ego, the bad guy, the fight, the bad guy's hot chick sidekick, more hot chicks and an inevitable loss, etc.

I like this movie because it was very expressive in terms of storytelling-the colors primarily used were black, white and grey (yes it was sombre) but sometimes other colors were highlighted at times-neon blue, striking red, even sepia tones-according to the plot. Very interesting.

The characters were alright. Samuel L. Jackson stars as a "faceless" villain, the Octopus, while Scarlett Johansson takes on the role of his sidekick, Silken Floss.
That girl has lovely earrings throughout the movie. I like the Japanese fans. Shannon, if you can get anything like that I'd be the first to place my order!

The femme fatales present in this film also makes it an entertaining watch. Eva Mendes (Hitch, Stuck on You) is the lead actress as Sand Seref (her name reminds me of Sans Serif-the font. haha) alongside Johansson, as mentioned.

There are lots of cold reviews about this movie on imdb already. Apparently, according to the person I watched it with, Miller was cloning Sin City through this movie. If you've seen Sin City, it's almost like the guide for The Spirit. The colors, the storytelling are all alike-but I don't know lah, cos I've never seen Sin City.

No idea why Miller tried to copy SC-there is a Sin City 2 in production, not to mention the Untitled 300 Sequel (that's really the official title for now! lol)
But please la, don't go around comparing The Dark Knight to The Spirit. Both are totally different.

Overall, this is a rather dark movie-slightly edgy. They've put in some pretty strong language here, which is not appealing personally. No wonder it's rated 18. I give it a 2.4/5

bittersweet

Today was my last day at work. Ah...kind of a strange thing to experience it twice. This time, it was bittersweet. Just as I was beginning to really bond with Aisyah, the year came to an end (Aisyah is the other waitress. Noob, she is).

It was also delivery day, and so there was a latest copy of Malaysian Tatler lying around. Flipping through it, what should I see but a special multiple-page feature of Datuk Bernard Chandran and Datin Mary Lourdes and their children and his couture creations? There was one dress which was the EXACT one as what Estelle wore when she sang American Boy at the AMAs. Oh you don't care. Uhmm...Faces has Britney on the cover. And she's featured too.

Anyway. I sure will miss punching in.

Punching out.
Delivering drinks.
Listening to Jamiroquai.
Refilling the big biscotti jar.
Recognising the regulars.
The cooks singing along to Besame Mucho.
Customers coming in to order coffee and explaining to them that we've got 15 types of coffee.
Customers coming in to order tea and explaining to them that we've got 8 types of tea and 3 types of iced tea.
Customers asking for "the chicken soup and pastry thing" and getting the chicken pie.

And the people.

You know what they say about letting go? It's harder than taking part. They're right.

Hello sweet holidays!

I might blog about the food there.

well, it's still sugar

Late one Friday night while working, Iona appeared in front of me with two small black boxes from Khadi.

And what should they hold but Cuppacakes by Wondermilk?!
These eight mini cupcakes were Khadi's "congratulations for passing your driving!" gift.

I ended up sharing them with my co-workers. The small tutus vanished in one bite.

And that was my first encounter with designer cupcakes.

And yes, the boxes are adorable-you will be unwilling to throw them away yourself. So, I turned them into...vanity boxes!

One for the earrings...

...and one for skincare products.

one life to live. better live it right.

Amazing love, how can it be
That You my King should die for me?
Amazing love, I know it's true
And it's my joy to honor You

All I want this Christmas.../Principles for 2009

is to be closer to Jesus

to know my Saviour better so that I can answer every cynical question meant to bring me down.

to make the right choices. Correct choices. Jesus choices.

stay on the narrow road and walk through the small gate (Matthew 7:13, 14) *

read every book I've bought over the year and have not read finish because of the newer books that I buy/receive.

stay away from temptation and evil.

sleep by 11pm every night.

love deeply, laugh outrageously, live righteously.

pray continually.

*Matthew 7:13,14
Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

Jesus is the reason for the season

This lovely structure of three angels is found at the beginning of The Curve's flea market. Sunway Pyramid also had three red christmas trees together-and according to the marketing person, the three trees represent the three kings who went to visit the baby Jesus to worship Him.

Despite the economic situation in the world today,...

People are still buying fir trees to fill in that void in their living halls.
Presents and gifts exchanged, sometimes substituting the love to the people we cannot spend more time with.
Meaningless shouts of "Eat, drink and be merry" fills the atmosphere at christmas parties.

We all have a void come this time of the year. Be it the void by family members not with us, the void of regret of the things we've done this year, or just an emotional void.

How do you plan to fill it?

Hark the herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled"
Joyful, all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With the angelic host proclaim:
"Christ is born in Bethlehem"
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King!"

Have a meaningful Christmas this year.
Leave your heart open.

reverse parking

It's 11:35pm and I've finally got the chance to sit down at home to rest. After church this morning, it was off to PJ with some girls for Christmas practice. That was on till 5pm-and then, Grace dropped me off at Tesco.

Gobbled down a White Chocolate Macademia cake from Secret Recipie while waiting for mum to pick me up. Malaysian Today has the tokens for free movie tickets again-like the one JQ had. This time, it was for Spirit, which is directed by the same guys of 300 and Sin City. Hmm. Smuggled the paper out.

Mum finally came, but we didn't go home straight away as it was nearing 6, so grocery-shopping it is! Managed to pick up a magazine on the way to the car.

It was 7-but we still needed to go home to drop off food. After that, we immediately went to church for the awesomebuloustastic performance by Enoch Fernando. One word: Awesomebuloustastic.

from cfitv.org

There were a couple of warm-up acts la-by the Grace orchestra. Me thinks it's their debut. There were violins, cellos, a clarinet, guitars, and the grand piano.

CHERYLYN you should have seen that huge, shiny, black grand piano. And the sound it emits-oh wow. Awesomebu-ai yah you know lah. Kenneth was there too and he noted that Cherylyn should've been there to see it.

My week ahead is...Work. M,T,F. Yes i'm working on F too.
Monday: 930-230 JANELLE's clothes
Tuesday: 920-230 Movie?
Wednesday: 7pm-Christmas eve performance at Grace PJ
Thursday: 9am-Christmas perf. at Grace Klang. come one come all! =D
Friday: work.

Do you know what's going to happen on Friday? Mandi.

Today as I was driving home with mum in the passenger seat, this HUGEA$$ black Avanza started tailgating me. I HATE TAILGATERS. NIMWITS. So there I was, trying to reduce the gear at a turning, and suddenly, the headlights flashed into me rearview mirror. I lost concentration and turned too early, driving over the kerb.

The temptation to give him the one-finger salute was there. But nevermind.

The other untoward incident happened as I was about to reverse park. I needed to move forward a little bit to reverse park, but this motorcyclist of a certain race with his girlfriend riding pillion didn't want to move. He had the nerve to blare his horn AT ME to tell me to GET OUT OF HIS WAY. Really, I wanted to go down and rap my knuckles on his glassy helmet there and then, and push his girlfriend off the bike.

But NO....Aisha, you've got patience. Don't let these NINCOMPOOPS ruin your image. Instead, think of the guys of that-certain-race, who always seem to be hotter than the guys of other races. And think of the wonderful, mouth-watering delicacies that originated from that race. Mmmm...there. Now you're patient.

With all that anger subsided, I proceeded to ram the car into the motorcycle.

XD ok ok the last line didn't really happen.

Ip Man

image googled

Donnie Yen stars in the latest WA-CHA movie, Ip Man. It's about this martial arts fighter somewhere in China. Apparently, this guy is a real polite person, but he trained Bruce Lee for a few years in martial arts.

AND AND my mum told me that we're descendents of this guy! Well, sort of. He's from the Eng Choon /Wing Chun (sp?) area in China where my grandparents are from. Oh i'm not so sure about it lah reading about Yip Man in
Wikipedia made me @.@

GY Camp 2008

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you;
and you will be my witness in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to
the ends of the earth."-Acts 1:8

Theme: TNT (Transform aNd Trend-Set) the world

This years' camp comprised of a little over 200 campers barging into Peace Haven campsite at Genting from Monday to Thursday. Many teams had funny names-among them oBOMBa, Ka-Bloo-Ie, Ka-Pow, Roti Bom and Chatan (mine mine!). got 11 groups overall. I was given the privilege of being a group advisor to David Poh and Vyonne Ann's Chatan (in Hokkien it means bomb) and the dorm leader of D-4-3 with my lovely assistant May Choo (didn't get her email add =()

It's always a different experience you get when you meet God face to face-There's never the SAME kind of thing that happens when the Holy Spirit moves through you.
You get a unique experience.
God reveals to you different matters that you need to know about.
And the Holy Spirit will manifest in you either by speaking in toungues, in dreams and visions-and all this will strengthen your faith by leaps, bounds and steps.

(Speaking in tongues is a manifestation of God's power in you. It's a prayer and praise to God in a language you do not understand and is proof that the Holy Spirit is living)

Personally, I've never spoken in tongues before.
On the second night, Pastor Gurmit asked those who've been baptised in the Spirit to pray for those who have not.
I stood behind one of my group members (i don't know if i can use her name here) and prayed for her-praying for the Holy Spirit to be anointed on her, to flow within her like a gushing river-and really, really ask God for her to have an encounter with the Holy Spirit. Transform her life so that she will trend-set the world. And praise the Lord, she did! She started speaking in tongues.
Proof that God used both of us as instruments for His glory.

I really thank God for that-because I've been having thoughts that God had lost faith in me. So here i am blogging as a testimony of God's faith and grace in a sinner like me-He can do the same for anybody. As long as you have faith in HIM.

I've got MORE to blog about. Among them:
The abscence of Perky and Emo and the intro of SuSam in the News Crew!
Hydrowar, when ALL them teams allied to "kill" us off (but we managed to get the committee's help for defense)
The last night, at 1 in the morning, when we lied on the cold tar road in darkness, looking at the millions of stars in the almost-clear sky.
Vanessa and Evelyn bodek-ing their hearts out for Chatan! Cute psycho button mushrooms, they are.
Pastor Henry's sharing.
The food that gets cold really, REALLY fast in the cold weather.

all you need is love

Next Monday, I will be leaving for a camp with my BIIG family.

We'll be back in Klang by Thursday.

We're going to play HydroWar. Again. And this year, I'm not going to huddle in a crowd.
*cracks knuckles*

Tomorrow will be a great day.

Good night everybody.

thursday

Sooo there I was punching in for work today. The boss handed me my first paycheck. The expression on my face was : O.o because the pay that I got is TEN TIMES less than my first pay when I started working there last year. TEN TIMES.

The saying "Work like you don't need the money," is what should be applied in every worker's life, but this is bordering on riduculous.

Nevermind. At least Friday's my off day, so I'll be able to rest tomorrow. Then, my boss tells me to come to work FRIDAY in the MORNING because the barista is taking MC. I could feel that dark heavy cloud inching its way towards me.

The next hours were alright. Until the cloud decided to multiply when Ivan and Chern Yang coming by to ask me to wear the Santa hat to this weekend's open day. Of course I can't go because of WORK commitments. Then, they told me that their last working day was TOMORROW. YES I AM JELOUS.

I ONLY HAVE ONE OFF DAY THIS WEEK AND THAT WILL BE THIS SUNDAY. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANOTHER OFF DAY BUT NOO~

Anyway to the GOOD things today. *thinks* Nothing. According to the calender, I'm having my PMS now.

Le Petite Sister is selling cards.

"We are dreaming about Lhuna"

Review on Coldplay and Kylie Minouge's collaboration on Lhuna.

The first listen would be a strange experience-kind of a delirium-asylum-song-thing 'cos you don't know where the beat starts and where it ends. Think Massive Attack's Teardrop (House MD theme song)

It was hard to decipher the count in this song-until Kylie starts to sing. You'll start to feel scared when Chris starts singing-he sounds stoned. VERY stoned. Me no like that. =(

The chorus is dreamy and easy to remember. Haunting, melodramatic, emo-anymore adjectives to describe this melancholic song?

Lhuna is ok-ok la...i'll like it if they have an MV.

Alright, about the music video. My ideas for the directors are

Floria Sigsimondi (The White Stripes' Blue Orchid, Muse's Supermassive Black Hole, Aguilera's Hurt, Incubus' Megalomaniac, etc) or

Sophie Muller (Leona Lewis' Better in Time, The Ting Ting's That's Not My Name, Mika's Grace Kelly, Gwen Stefani's Wind It Up, Coldplay's Fix You, etc)

Just LOOK at their accomplishments. Chicks rule.

So anyway yeah the MV-it'll be black and white. Dark enclosed room in a mansion. And there's lots of mental patients on the loose, all looking for the mysterious Lhuna. They push each other for space in the small room-emphasize the claustrophobia here-and they break free out of the room in the chorus.

Now, in the big mansion, they roam all over-the hall, the kitchen and the garden-and it will be revealed that the moon (Luna) is full and glowing, imperiously smiling upon the patients who searched for her all this time.

Mission accomplished, they bask under the moonlight and the stars for the rest of the song, sometimes dancing, sometimes climbing over a hedge or something. Ooh, make the garden a labyrinth!

The props and the costumes would be elaborate with slight gothic influence.

Macam tu lah.

delirious

It's not Christmas nor my birthday yet and people are giving me things! =D
Unexpected and delightful.

God also gave me something-A PASS FOR DRIVING TEST! All glory to God.
I failed the first time; and i didn't pay under-the-table money for both times.
It's true what Marcus' parents said-the examiners have a quota as to
how many people who paid should pass: how many people who didn't pay should pass

At the end of the test, the examiner said in a slightly angry tone, "Main HENTAM saja, lu!" 'cos i was changing lanes without signalling.
Kinda dissapointed he didn't have that O.O expression, and didn't cling on to the dashboard with his fingernails and his feet pressing the brake, screaming "OH NOES!"

(picture from email)

Spiritually, i wonder if i can go back to where i was. Because where i was is better than where i am.

i'm afraid that this will happen...

Today I saw ONE customer with my favourite bag-the Coach patchwork bag.

Prettyriteprettyriteprettyrite?!

And another lady came in with this bag-

I still like the first bag more. Apparently, patchwork bags only suit young people-like those under 40, who can carry it well. Do you agree?

If you come, and i'm working, and you come to say hi to me, i will sing you a Christmas song. (When there's no one to serve lah.)
I'll be working tomorrow (1-5) and Saturday (2.30-6.30).

=)

Yeah, HICT doesn't offer design programmes. HAHAHAHA Ivan and Andrew can do stuff tho.

one day

One day, we will look back on all this and say that none of this really mattered anyway-and the only thing that counted, was salvation. The only question that remains after all is said and done is "Do you know your God?"

Can you answer that question?

Now, it is said that in the typical life, a person only starts to look for God when he or she is in their senior years. But what if you started young?

What if you looked for God in all the right places?

What if He answers you?

What if His Spirit falls upon you?

What if He changes you from the inside out?

What if He makes you into something you never thought you'd be?

Then you, have experienced something everyone needs to experience before dying.

Mum just called and asked us to look at the moon. It's crescent, upside down, and had two shiny stars lingering just above it. So adorable! Like it's happy at the nightlife.
Kinda like this:

Strange but cute.
And the moon don't go clubbing to be happy ok.

Smack that

To make a pinata, you need:

Balloon(s)
Newspaper
White glue (can be home made with starch, flour and hot water)
Brush
Crepe paper or paint (for deco)
String
Lotsa candies =d

Results:
The pinata did not break upon impact. Newspaper was either too solid or not fragile enough. Nevertheless, i thank God that the candies flew out in the end anyway for the kids. (Their shrieks of delight is priceless!)

Respect & Protect

You might have noticed the sudden burst of carnival-ish atmosphere at your local shopping malls, mostly in red. And the people involved always stick a red ribbon to your chest. "What's that for?", you think. Well, my dear friends, it's for World AIDS Day, which falls on 1st December.

Self-compiled facts from Channel [V] and Wikipedia you should take time to read:

MYTH: HIV and AIDS are the same.
FACT:
HIV is the name for the virus, Human Immunodeficiency Virus . AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

According to Wikipedia, HIV is a retrovirus that causes AIDS, a condition in which the immune system begins to fail, leading to life-threatening opportunistic infections.

MYTH: We can contract AIDS by touching tainted blood and sitting on infected syringes.
FACT:
NO, we cannot. The virus HIV cannot live outside a hosts' body for long.

Its chances of survival outside a human body (for example, blood in a syringe) after two hours is very slim.

MYTH: We can get AIDS by having contact with a HIV-positive person.
FACT:
NO, we CANNOT get HIV/AIDS from touching, kissing, holding hands or hugging a HIV-positive person. There are only three ways HIV/AIDS can be contracted.

One, through unprotected sex.
Two, through sharing of contaminated needles.
Three, from an infected mother to her child through birth or breast milk.

A person can also contract HIV/AIDS through contaminated blood transfusion, but this rarely happens nowadays.

Don't treat HIV-positive people differently than you treat HIV-negative people. Get over that social stigma.
