html

seenamon.blogspot.com

I must thank Sam for giving Iona and I the basic html coding thingy lesson when we were in high school.

"You must close it! Like this < /> or it will mess up the whole page!"
"Okay, to start a new page, you must *insert 100 <> and < />*"

Not to mention the confusing Java codes. =_=

Ah, those were the days. We had in mind to construct a webpage for something. Can't remember what. But I do remember it was on the now-defunct Geocities.

Those html lessons came in handy today when I had to re-do the link us thingy for Seenamon. Haha! Eat that, Photobucket!

Seenamon is updated with pre loved bags under RM 20. Click on the image at this post for great bargains! ;)

musing

Jesus was right when He said we'll eventually find our lives when we lose them for His sake. And there is no such thing as the perfect church. The treasures we seek are often found in unexpected places, often closer to us than we think.

nobody grows in easy times

POD's Dancing with angels and serpents

"If joy really comes in the morning time
then I'm gonna sit back and wait till the next sunrise."

The world...the people...can influence you to behave like it.

I just read an article that said US teens are showing symptoms of addiction to social media networks. This issue shows how much different the life in the times of Vanity Fair was (I've been reading it in the college library) and life as it is now. Back in the 1800s, there's practically NOTHING to do. People kept themselves busy with beautiful activities - sewing, painting, reading books, courting, playing the harpsichord (LOL), baking, having a pet dog, walking in huge mansions, etc. And the things they do to keep themselves occupied at night (no clubs back then, remember?) - simply wunnerful! Going to the opera, a drama, a horse ride carriage to the city for a candlelight dinner.

Life these days? Facebook-Youtube-Download site-American Idol. Or, College-Clubbing-Semester break retreat-etc.
Is it really worth it? Are we expanding our intelligence as per the days of yesteryear? Hmmm. Hey, we gotta think bout this, man! Is this generation gonna produce another Shakespeare? Or will we keep churning out Stephanie Meyers?
Are we going to subdue ourselves with innocent, straightforward questions that we can answer for ourselves, or are we going to dig deep for the questions only He can answer? Like: what are you here for?

Anyway, now, I just like, wow. The future looks great. But if I set my sights on attaining the future and the future alone, I'm in trouble. Because what then would be of my present? The right way, I believe, is to live one day at a time. Daily grace, sufficient to meet all your needs.

"Lord, please bring Sam to a church that will send her out to the world. Amen!"

I am only listening to POD nowadays...nothing quiet. Loud sounds drown stuff away :D
I'm not perfect.

first impressions count?

Everytime I blog about an issue, I don't just convict the reader who reads - I am doubly convicted by what I write. That's God's word for you - going out and never coming back empty!

img from yublog.org

Whenever we (myself included) meet new people, our mind goes to overdrive trying to place him/her in a box, with a label, and perhaps a subcategory. This is a learned thing - we learn it because it's not safe to trust everyone you meet. In the simplest way possible, we judge because we are afraid, we are fearful, perhaps even secretly terrified of what a stranger may be.

Sorry to say, we cannot go around judging others for the rest of our lives. We cannot meet new people and expect them to be holding a butcher's knife behind their back. We cannot know who a person is in 5 seconds!

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others,
you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

If you judge a person by a standard, be prepared to be judged by that very standard as well, Jesus said.

I shall try to stop putting people into boxes and subcategories based on first impression. Are you with me?

more food for thought?

"This is a watch. This watch moves in time, it shows me the time. The
mechanics of the watch inside is intricate, each wheel moving in precision
with one another. But I don't see the watch maker. I've never seen him. He
definitely made this watch, because the watch is on my wrist. Does that mean the
watch just assembled all by itself? No. So we see the Earth, the land. But we
don't see the Maker. Did it all come together by itself?"

thoughts & eulogies

Happythings@tumblr serves Nuffnang? That means the blogger must be Asian/Pan-Asian!

Sis Kim at cell one day mentioned that we should probably start writing the frame of our eulogies. (An eulogy is a speech someone would say about the deceased at a funeral)

(It may be morbid to you, unless and until you accept the fact that we all are going to die someday.)

The whole purpose of writing your own eulogy is to find out where you want to be, and what kind of a person you would want to be remembered as when you're gone.

So, what would I like people to say about me when I'm gone? Gosh, so many things. I want the world to cry. "There goes an angel," someone whispers.
"She was true to the people around her, true to herself, and most of all, true to God." someone else chips in while holding back a sob.
Man, so cheesy! I cannot believe people would say that, 'cos I am so far from that!

Crafting your own eulogy in your mind is probably a better motivation than crappy self-help books.

Another thing I wanna talk about-self-help. Have you seen the books they put on self-help bookshelves lately? All that stuff that says "You can make it on your own!" "I'll have it my way!" "It's my way or the high way!" does no good but to inflate the ego of man and make him believe that he can fly when he can't even bring himself to crawl.

It took me sometime to wrap my mind around the idea that I can't even make the smallest move without the help of God (Hey, I'm still trying to figure it out). He, the Creator of all things seen and unseen.

Freedom, justice, love, peace - the hippies didn't propagate that, Jesus did, long before they got that idea.

these lyrics may sound poetic

Sunshine upon my face
A new song for me to sing
Tell the world
How I feel inside
Even though it might
Cost me everything
Now that I know this
So beyond, I can't hold this
I can never
Turn my back away
Now that I've seen you
I can neva look away

"Everyday is a new day. I'm thankful for every breath I take. I won't take you for granted, so I learn from my mistakes. It's beyond my control-sometimes it's best to let go whatever happens in this lifetime. So I trust in love. You have given me peace of mind."

mow-nash

Advice no. 16: Always appreciate the simple things. Or you might find yourself complaining about everything.

Today, I tagged along with JQ to Monash's Extreme Sports Carnival after prayer meeting. It was my first time at Monash Uni. (Yeah, I am a bit jakun-I've only been to HICT, HELP, The One Academy and Taylor's) I like the architecture of the place very much. If I could rank it, Monash would be no. 1 on the private uni-college best architecture list. Really! It's bright and modern, clean, and the ammeneties are not cluttered together. Plus, it doesn't smell old and isn't underground and doesn't occupy the 5th floor of a shopping complex.

The event itself was 0_0 I hate to compare, but any college event in my college cannot be at that scale and magnitude. Seriously. It *must* be the people. And the fact that those kids get sponsorship like *that* easy. They had Nadia from Fly FM as the emcee lah.

And the performances. Oh Bus Company, how have you grown since I first saw you. They were class-act. Superb. And their official photographer was there, too!

What sports did they have? No boring futsal, badminton or congkak, no siree. Extreme means EXTREME. There was a batting cage, dodgeball (like really expert), rock/wall climbing, paintballing and ZORBING!
What's zorbing, you ask?

The bazaar! Ooh, *shopping*! There were shift dresses, corset belts, but mostly pre-loved stuff. While JQ was busy networking, I was momentarily dazed, because I haven't seen a price tag in AGES. Really. Unless you count the price stickers at Tesco price tags. (But then again, I've not eaten a proper McDonalds meal since February)

PTL for a great day out!
For fun fellowship,
for modern and simple architecture,
for bazaars,
for good music and
PTL for a simple phone call =D

these words

These Yasmin Ahmad lyrics have been going in and out of my mind today.

"Words, they say too much
Love comes in silence"

about seenamon

Seenamon is the brainchild of my good friend, Jian Quin, and myself. We started it out because we wanted to bring stuff that girls want, but cannot be found in shopping malls. I also wanted to start a blogshop because I want to see how online businesses thrive.

Well, it turns out, business ain't that hot - and I need YOUR help, dear reader! ("Oh no - what does she want me to do?")

Just publicise Seenamon on your blog(s). If you notice, there is a small bunch of text under the "link us" area on Seenamon. What you gotta do is:

1. Copy the code
2. Add a gadget on your blog and paste the code there
3. Make sure the gadget/code is visible (as in, not at the bottom of the page)
4. Link us up in your links
3. (Optional): blog about an item or many items from Seenamon!

If you do all/one of this, leave a comment to THIS POST.

Unfortunately, I cannot give out discounts/free gifts if you do that, because Seenamon is a *budget* blogshop. (Nothing in our blog is above RM 20)
(However, if you're interested in something, I will see what I can do ;))

Regardless, you will have our many thanks and gratitude for your priceless contribution to the growth of Seenamon.
Is that not better? Intrinsic motivation!

Many thanks in advance.

new art store

I went to Kedai Tekstil Nagoya with mum and sister earlier this evening.

WAAAAH.

So many aweshome fabrics! The ones from Japan! Way cheaper than those sold on blogs! British cotton for RM 16 per meter! Simple local cotton fabric in striking purple, pink and blue! And the canvas! Don't I sound like an aunty now? :P

I've found a new art store.

It's called the fabric shop.

"not enough face for her smile"

A big thank you to SamC for burning the MP3 full of songs for Sarah and I way back a few years ago! Today I'd like to share one of the songs in it, a Casting Crowns song.

It's quite an emo song. Watch the video below, and you'll get why it's so emo(tional).

I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say "Amen", and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear Your whisper through the rain

"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

And I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
And every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand

You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to you
And you raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

But as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth

advice no. 4

Best advice no. 4: "Never compare yourself to others."

A few people have expressed their affection towards my blog and what I blog about often. You know who you are, so thank you for the encouragement! It is necessary for me to get feedback or else I would stop blogging altogether!

Let me tell you this, I did not blog like this until I read
Zlwin's blog. Now, the last time he blogged was roughly 2 months ago. But I was an avid reader of his blog for many, many years. His posts are like sermons, but very relevant to what we as teenagers face everyday.

Every time I go to his blog, I will somehow read the description in his sidebar (now put to the bottom of the page). I believe it is this "tagline" that Zlwin always uses that has taught me to do the same.

Why fill the world with self-centered bimbotic mush (which doesn't need much braincells to do) when what the world needs is the TRUTH?

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jn 14:6

"He blogs, but he blogs differently. The world blogs about themselves, nothing but me, myself and I. But Zlwin Chew blogs his God. He believes that a blog is a powerful medium in which one can tell the world about what He, Himself and God has done in me, meself and I. God needs to be glorified, even online. The world needs to hear what it does not want to hear but need to hear. The world need to know what it does not want to know but need to know.

And he dare you to do something radical. He dare you to...

BLOG GOD..."

"I dare you to do something radical. I dare you to BLOG GOD"

muse's undisclosed desires (vocals only)

19

This blog has seen the better of days. If I could, I would update this blog EVERYDAY. Writing and composing and hunting for images is fun! Can I just say, staying away from blogging only works if you have 4 final papers to study for?

PRAISE THE LORD MAAAN! All throughout the four papers, I just wrote and wrote and wrote like a flowing river till the pages were filled with words. And it's all Him, who helps me! Thank You! The secret weapon, of course, is the prayer of Jabez.
(Jabez means pain. His mom named him pain!)

8/4 On the eve of my birthday, I had to prep for Environmental Issues paper. My friends decided to kidnap me to Kota Kemuning for dinner. We ended up in Ayamas xD

9/4 Because my birthday was on a Friday this year (TGIF :p) I had to go to cell too. And a cake! And Starbucks! And speeches *wipes tear from eye* I love them, and shall keep them in my heart, and call them Squishy and they shall be my Squishy!

10/4 Last paper of the term in the morning, and Singapore Dance Theatre @ KLPac at night. We saw Ramli Ibrahim! And oh, the awesome saliva-inducing GARLIC AND CHEESE NAAN! Thank you Nana for introducing that gem!
Pictures soon.

11/4 Sunday. Emceeing is such a tough job. You need good lung capacity to talk loudly, gesticulate your actions so that the people at the back can see, and be ALERT with time! Haha.

12/4 Seenamon updated with new additions! GO AND CLICK LAH DEI. This is the only promotion for that blog that I do.
I doubt I will be going anywhere this two weeks of sem break. Iona's in Singapore visiting Sam for a week, and a bunch of college people are going to Cameron on a shoestring budget. I might be getting a passport soon.

Holidays! So many things to do!
-Little Levites schedule
-NLC crash course again?
-Read! Read! Read!
-Stitch air mobile items!
-play hard rock songs! on the piano!

BFM (89.9) introduced me to Audioslave's I am the Highway.
Audioslave's lead singer has one of those kind of melancholic and brooding voice which is very attractive. Kind of like Nickelback, but with more experience in the years kinda sound.

(Audioslave, if you all never heard of them before, had one hit called Macam Batu. Famous for the ripping solo in the middle. That song reminds me of 2004 - form 2, long Fridays, and Jane Eyre. HAHA)

"I am not your rolling wheels I am a highway
I am not your carpet ride I am the sky
I am not your blowing wind I am the lightning
I am not your autumn moon I am the night"
