secret: my idea of exercise is walking in a shopping mall. and driving there.

pic by iona

Delucca is opposite Palate Palette! Heh heh heh. Now I know how to go there. If you don't know what Palate Palette is, go Google search Blogs for pictures. Aweshome shmawesome deco.

On that night I discovered that KL restaurants DO sell RM 600 wine; gin and tonic tastes like Sprite with Panadol; and Pina Colada will never be sold in Starbucks. Also, I saw things I never should have seen *washes eyes with soap* and no, it wasn't Mr. Victor dancing.

Tomorrow to MPO! yay. Hopefully there's time to drop by Kinokuniya.

Ah poor fella xD

fruitfulness in the midst of affliction

It was quite hot on stage today. Ventilation rosak kot xD I like dancing on youth sundays because it's all youth leading the praise and worship, and we all have gone through the same experiences and encounters with the same God and we know who we are in Him :)

"Your ministry isn't the singing or the dancing in the church. It is outside, in the world"

garbage truck: jangan beremo dengan aku

I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his breaks, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.'

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you. Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so.....'Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.'

I love this picture.

o my beloved

The music in Talentime was what made the movie unique. Among the songs were Angel, I Go (Pergi), Just a Boy and that Chinese song that Kahoe played on the Erhu.

There's a song that really tugged at everyone's heartstrings-O Re Piya (O My Beloved) by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The title itself brings about an image of some sad Bollywood romance. But listen to the song, and FUH-it's more melancholic than you'll ever imagine.

You think Jai Ho is meaningful, listen to this:

"If you ask me to leave her, I will do it for you. But teach me how to forget her. Because my heart does not know how to and it can never do..”
-Mahesh

Just imagine those very lines in sign language, signed in the rain on his knees in front of his mother, to explain how much he loves Melur, with O Re Piya as the soundtrack.
ish, geram. that scene is so addictive to watch. gotto buy the cd soon.

For a playlist of Talentime music, click

what was written on the kite tail in Mukhsin?

picture thanks to Andy

FINAS (next to Zoo Negara)
23rd May 2009
Free screening of Yasmin Ahmad's Talentime and Q&A session.

"My life is now complete!"-Khadijah
"I wanna take a picture with the hottie!"-Iona
"..."-(well I can't remember actually saying anything)

Mahesh, Kahoe and Azean were there too. And ANDY! Oh Andy, thank you so much for allowing my friends & I to tumpang camera.

Talentime was screened for only TWO MEASLY WEEKS in Malaysian cinemas, which explained why I missed it. So this free screening was great. The movie strikes a chord with anyone who's ever been in love. The music is haunting at times, mind boggling and makes you want to sing along to it.

Yasmin was very friendly and jovial.

The title to today's post is the question I would've asked if there were enough time.

picture still thanks to Andy!

fikiran

It was simply the human problem in its extreme of riches and poverty, its refinement and its vileness, which was, in spite of her unconscious attempts to struggle against the facts, burning into her life the impression that would in the end either transform her into a woman of rare love and self-sacrifice for the world, or a miserable enigma to herself and all who knew her.

-Chapter 22, In His Steps, Charles M. Sheldon

say goodbye to yesterday

"would you make your mark
by mending a broken heart"

puddy tat

This evening, my sister did her homework while I read the bible in our room as usual. Everyone else was out of the house. It was getting dark. While we were minding our own business, we heard three solid THUMPs from outside our room.

THUMP
THUMP
THUMP

Our blood ran cold. Well, hers more than mine, but yeah. Our first thoughts were that the thumps were made by zombies knocking on the main door. Maybe. Who knows. But I knew it was a cat.

Sure enough, we went out and saw a fat cat nudging its nose on the plate of fish from dinner. It nearly knocked the plate over the table when we caught it red handed.

Humph, you can has cheez burger indeed!
It's the second time that same cat was caught on our dining table, prodding its nose to look for food.

I mean, this is biasa occurance if you live on a grounded house, but we live in an apartment. Four. Floors. Up. From. The. Ground.

That cat must have learnt how to take the lift up -___-

FJ Benjamin Warehouse sale in Centro

Well I won't call Centro a mall per se-having a Starbucks outlet doesn't make it a shopping mall.

Iona told us something new this week: Guess? the brand by Marciano is pronounced as ghas. Like ghastly without the ly. I'm still calling it GUESS.

Papa Johns is going to operate where Dome was in Aeon! I'm getting my job back! :D PTL!
Awesome. No need to travel all the way to Subang to work during the hols.
And you Klang people don't have to travel all the way down to Puchong/KL for Papa Johns pizza :d

Okay lah, I'll share another website.

Are you bored of skinny jeans and little miss tees?
Do you see too many of black vests on guys and girls?
Wish you could see more individualistic collective fashion sense that is far from the mundane ones that are haunting M'sian online boutiques?

Then lookbook is for you!
(It's a link i've seen hanging on Aimee's blog for quite a while, and pickedpics.blogspot.com also mentioned this place a few times.)

How is it different from the other fashion blogs? Well, today there's one called Your Road Ends Here*

Doesn't look like a fashion website now, does it?

tuesday afternoon

so it's been a week since i've put the nuffnang banner on the top of my blog, and i have to say it is interrupting the blog page loading massively. sometimes nothing appears. humph! *turns nose from banner*

eco-handbags.ca sells bags made from funky recyclable, environ-friendly stuff: 35mm Slides, magazines, car seatbelts, juice boxes, etc. This one made form record covers caught my eye:

Yesterday I was watching this movie called Little Manhattan (2005) on 8TV's Popcorn and Wednesdays. I didn't watch the whole thing lah (cos CSI was on earlier).
The leading kid played by Josh Hutcherson looks pretty dorky.

But this is him now:

O.O
fu yoh.

More recently, he's been in RV and Journey to the Center of the Earth.

And the music choice in Little Manhattan is very cute. Check out Love Grows (Where Rosemary Goes) by Edison Lighthouse. Fun song that will leave you humming along.

"it don't matter if you're black or white"

off google

The first music video I ever remembered watching as a kid was Michael Jackson's Black and White. Fun stuff.

For all the things that he's been called, you have to give MJ the cool title for making moonwalk the shuffle of the 80s.

*

Today my friends and I stood through the presidential speeches for candidates running for the title of America's Next Top Model uh, Student Council President. Only one word to describe the whole thing: circus. I mean, four candidates and already so much mess? Phew.

They were even asking for last minute candidates! Yeap. It did occur to me that if I were to go up and give a speech on HOPE I'd probably garner a decent amount of supporters. All of the candidates were too busy putting forward their own agendas. Sound familiar? Haha.

What I want in a student leader: Integrity. Intelligence. Innovation. Is it too much to ask? Honestly, IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK?!

Okay fine so if I want change I should've run for president. Let me drop one subject first, k? Oh wait. Add/drop period is over.
No animosity intended, para kandidate.

janelle punya, saya lukis

Accountings so far is...accountings. Macroeconomics is alright. Bussiness Stats is AWESOME; it's just like add maths, only easier. Public Speaking is my second favorite subject. Dr. Lim's a good lecturer but the class is waaay too quiet.

My favorite subject is FAS223 aka Music Appreciation and History! Because I like music. And Zailan Razak is teaching. And we get to do concert reviews as assignments. And go to MPO. And this place called Delucca.

Smile today! :D

"shrimp is the fruit of the sea"

On mummy's day.

The interior of Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. @ Sunway Pyramid

The ambience is messy but quaint. The music choice is great but is too loud while Forrest Gump plays on mute in the background. Very confusing leh.

There's lots of space in this outlet. I think they may have a private room for small parties too.

Appetizers
Mama Gump's Garlic Bread Basket

no comment

Cajun Shrimp
Lip smackingly delicious! The prawns were big and juicy. The bread is for soaking up the hot and spicy sauce at the bottom of the pan.

Main Dishes
Shrimper's Heaven

Consists of Coconut Shrimp (coconut strands fried with the shrimp made it taste sweet and very strange), Chilly Shrimp (naked shrimps-very cold. and lifeless), Fried Shrimp (the only good one out of the four), Tempura Shrimp (not nice at all-very mushy).
The dipping sauces were sweet :S
Got fries too.

Fish and Chips
a tad tasteless. I mean, for the price we're paying for this, i expected something tastier! Dome makes better F&C, hands down

Dessert
That Chocolate Thing

Flourless, warm chocolate cake with ice cream and whipped cream and some raspberry sauce.
Yes, it tastes as funny a it sounds. Since it was flourless, the whole thing was mushy and floated around the jar like...something. It looked like warmed eggs, sugar and coco powder.
The taste, once you get over the appearance, is delicious and unique. Not very addictive though.

The service is efficient. The waiters and waitresses are chatty and friendly. So do poke fun at them xD just kidding.

I will only come back to try non seafood food. And for the price they're charging, they should make the air cond warmer. The shrimps were all cold shrimps by the time we were done!

In conclusion, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is only for Forrest Gump fans. And maybe for those who want to try it out lah.
With the amount of money spent that day, I could've eaten fresher seafood at Teluk Gong. And they would have had crabs and oh chien and bigger tiger prawns than shrimps.

bitter heart

Zee Avi aka Kokokaina's first single off her album with Brushfire Records (the same one with Jack Johnson), Bitter Heart, will be used on an episode of Private Practice.

A ray of hope for the Malaysian music industry? We'll see.

"what's the difference between 'freshest ingredients' and 'premium ingredients'?"

Papa John's Pizza, located in Berjaya Times Square, is a brand from the States brought to you by the people who brought you Krispy Kreme, 7-11, Starbucks and Kenny Rogers Roasters: Berjaya Holdings.

I've been wanting to try it out after reading reviews on the fresh pizzas they offer in the newspaper, and when Shannon blogged about the affordable set for two (RM 29.80-also read about her fainting at the opening of Krispy Kreme! ah the anticipation of doughnuts), I had to drag an eating partner to try it out.

After flipping through the menu, we decided to order two mini pizzas and two appetizers instead, which costed us only RM 37.50 with three glasses of iced water.

The Papa John's menu is very pleasing to the eye. Categories of food are divided into subsections (pizza, pasta & baked rice, drinks & dessert, etc).

Appetizers

Green Peppers & Garlic Butter

These came free of charge. The green pepper tastes funky. Sourish, spicy and tangy, better left untouched if you have a mouth ulcer.
The melted garlic butter, on the other hand, is scrumptiosly delicious, especially if you dip the pizza crust into it. MMMmmm. Not enough garlic taste though.

Onion Rings (RM 3.90)

As my eating partner said, "What a dissapointment"
Skip this. It's the kind that you can buy from hypermarkets.

Cheese sticks (RM 6.90)

This one is so-so lah. In the menu it said the sticks are covered with mozarella cheese. Kind of tasteless. We ate this with parmesan powder (you can request for it)

Pizza
6-inch pizzas (RM 11.20 each)

Land and Sea (chicken ham, shrimps, peas, cheese)

I don't normally enjoy land and seafood together, but on this pizza it is almost perfect together. There's peas too! On a pizza! Fancy that.

And the shrimps on this, is simply nyummy

Pepperoni (beef pepperoni, cheese)

Who doesn't love pepperoni?
Especially when served on this wonderfully thick bed of melted cheese, dripping in oil. Goodbye diet!

Service & Ambience

Good service by attentive staff. Ambience is bright and clean. But the sofas had pizza crusts though. Hope they'll clean that up.
And yes, Papa John's sits over Dome's old outlet =/

Anyway. Good food. Better pizzas than Domino's. Fresher ingredients than Pizza Hut.

"it's like you're always stuck in second gear"

You guys did a great job! (even though I wasn't there to see any performances-JPS please buck up with the timing lah)
Star may never be champions but I am so so proud that you all have what it takes to be one of the best.

Do not remove link if you plan to re-blog. Thank you =)
