"what's the difference between 'freshest ingredients' and 'premium ingredients'?"

Papa John's Pizza, located in Berjaya Times Square, is a brand from the States brought to you by the people who brought you Krispy Kreme, 7-11, Starbucks and Kenny Rogers Roasters: Berjaya Holdings.

I've been wanting to try it out after reading reviews on the fresh pizzas they offer in the newspaper, and when Shannon blogged about the affordable set for two (RM 29.80-also read about her fainting at the opening of Krispy Kreme! ah the anticipation of doughnuts), I had to drag an eating partner to try it out.

After flipping through the menu, we decided to order two mini pizzas and two appetizers instead, which costed us only RM 37.50 with three glasses of iced water.

The Papa John's menu is very pleasing to the eye. Categories of food are divided into subsections (pizza, pasta & baked rice, drinks & dessert, etc).

Appetizers

Green Peppers & Garlic Butter

These came free of charge. The green pepper tastes funky. Sourish, spicy and tangy, better left untouched if you have a mouth ulcer.
The melted garlic butter, on the other hand, is scrumptiosly delicious, especially if you dip the pizza crust into it. MMMmmm. Not enough garlic taste though.

Onion Rings (RM 3.90)

As my eating partner said, "What a dissapointment"
Skip this. It's the kind that you can buy from hypermarkets.

Cheese sticks (RM 6.90)

This one is so-so lah. In the menu it said the sticks are covered with mozarella cheese. Kind of tasteless. We ate this with parmesan powder (you can request for it)

Pizza
6-inch pizzas (RM 11.20 each)

Land and Sea (chicken ham, shrimps, peas, cheese)

I don't normally enjoy land and seafood together, but on this pizza it is almost perfect together. There's peas too! On a pizza! Fancy that.

And the shrimps on this, is simply nyummy

Pepperoni (beef pepperoni, cheese)

Who doesn't love pepperoni?
Especially when served on this wonderfully thick bed of melted cheese, dripping in oil. Goodbye diet!

Service & Ambience

Good service by attentive staff. Ambience is bright and clean. But the sofas had pizza crusts though. Hope they'll clean that up.
And yes, Papa John's sits over Dome's old outlet =/

Anyway. Good food. Better pizzas than Domino's. Fresher ingredients than Pizza Hut.
