"Many are called, but few are chosen."
Is 23rd a Saturday?
Today I went to Secret Recipe at Voir inside Jusco. I have to say, the 10% service tax is so not worth it. I suspect the waitresses and waiters are all school-leavers 'cause they look young and act young too.
I pay you guys 10% service tax, I expect that 10% to be worth it. RM 4.29 is a lot of money to fork out, you know, and money doesn't grow on trees! Secret Recipe, you should teach your people well. No matter how many awards you win from the pacific you cannot win our hearts if you don't give good service.
Sorry lah, but that waitress practically flung that plate of cake at us, and we humans normally don't like plates full of moist, uneaten cakes flung at us, especially when we're not at a party.
I am currently typing my whole life in a 1000 word essay to be submitted to The Star newspaper to see if I can attend the BRATS programme this year. Taiping, Penang or Kuala Selangor.
KLPAC is looking for a pianist to perform in their Spring Fest programme in April. Anyone interested? You have to play this song at the audition though, it's called Sherperd's Song. Music sheet and application form available at www.klpac.com.
I wonder why some people blog weirdly...using non-existent English words, for example. That puzzles me terribably. It's hard to read like that...when it's typed out awkwardly.
Khady just told me that this blog she blogged about was locked. Hmm. I wonder why. Oh yeah, it's because some people don't think twice when creating a blog! Gosh people. Think lah.
Anyway, the blogger's name is Leowie. Ms. Leowie-who-blogs-on-Xanga, this is for you: I really like your posts. They were funny and made me laugh, even though I don't know you, I really like what you post about. I do not stalk you as I have a life, and I believe my friend was being inquisitive when she blogged about you. I apologize if you feel like we've intruded on your privacy, but that is what you get when your blog is public. Just a note lah, I'm dissapointed that I won't be reading your stories anymore.
Have a great week everybody!

not point not not not
This is a perk of hanging out close to the Roxy store.
It's a surfing/music festival, by the way. I'm not interested in the festival...might as well go there to go on all the rides, right?
Someone's coming back on the fifth!!! We'll see if the programme has done her skin or weight, for that matter, any good. LOL.

friday again?
After SPM, when you start getting a job, be humble. In fact, cut the crap and be humble even if you're in the Science stream since form four, because once you guys are all out of school, you all will be looking for jobs, and most of you from the arts and science streams will be working in the same line.
It's pretty strange-in school, the Science stream students (some at least) act like they own the world and the students in the vocational stream are the people in the background. But after school, all of us will be on the same level as seen by the older people around us: raw (mentah), innocent (tidak bersalah) and unscathed (belum dicat).
If you're looking for a job, it all boils down to what you have and what you are made of, not what stream you were in at school. You want a job? Make sure you have the
a. Skills
b. Personality
c. Talent
d. Intelligence
Please be informed that all of your schooling years (11 or so in total) may not guarantee either one nor all of the above needed to pass a simple interview for a job.
You have to be made of tough stuff to stand the challenges, all physical, emotional and mental to get through the first month of your job. It would help if you were to think of the whole working stint as a testing ground to independence in your later years, because after you get your degree you will always start from scratch, you know? So be strong, be independent and don't complain too much or you'll find yourself quitting. Always remember "Quitters never win and winners never quit".
Something I've always thought is after I get my first paycheck post-SPM: Will I be tempted to work work work at the same pace everyday to get that exhilarating taste of money in my hands (again) and live for money? Or will I muster the courage, intelligence and guts to say "No, I will not settle for this because I know there is something out there in the world waiting for me to do, and I will continue on where I've left and work my butt off for the mission I have in mind!"?
I've heard from someone (forgotten who) that students from co-ed schools work in the F&B line while students from single-sex schools like RZ and Convent work in clothing stores. *looks around* HAHAHAHA how true is that?
Another bone I want to pick on is the trend of gyms. You know what I'm talking about-those health centres which suck your money for health you can get elswhere for free. Or not. Whateverlah. Anyway.
If you were to stand at the escalator to Fitness First in Aeon shopping centre (been hanging around there lately for the sales, etc) you will notice a lot of people walking upwards to the gym at the second floor. What I want to point out is the irony of it all. Some health freaks don't take the escalator, they wait for the lift to bring them up to the second floor! And there's also a few people wearing the bag that says Fitness First lining up in sports shoes at McDonalds. Okay, I am being mean. I apologize, please forgive me.
Good night!

friday
I missed the new season of Heroes on Star World...and I kicked myself in the head. But last week's House episode still manages to cheer me up...because he was on an airline called Malaysian Pasific Airlines. LOL.
Since everyone is so serious all the time, here are some pictures I got in my email to cheer you all up.
Don't say I didn't try.

\( ^,^)/
I bet you didn't know that...
The Quiksilver logo is half of the Roxy logo.
Take the Roxy logo...
...and cut it into half (ooh, emo I know). Take the left hand part and turn it clockwise 90 degrees.
Ta-DAH!
I found this out after staring at the Roxy accessories shop at Aeon for half an hour.
Not by reading Wikipedia, okay?
It's not bogus...'cos Roxy and Quiksilver are owned by the same surfing company.
At youth (or is it outreach now?) we all settled down for a screening of We Are Marshall. It's a true story about this (American) football team which won a game then all perished in a plane crash. But then something rose from the ashes and there's a new football team that takes on the challenge of being as good as, if not better than their old team.
Winning is everything....and then it doesn't mean a thing. Winning is fun. A bonus especially if you gave your all in a game.
Shannon and I had a fun time figuring out who was the cute assistant coach. I thought it was Adam Sandler...but it was Matthew Fox, the Jack from Lost. I wanted to ask her if the main actor was Matthew McConaughey. He DID look like the guy Oprah interviewed last year. Turns out he is!
I have a good eye for actors. Speaking of Oprah, guess who's she interviewing tomorrow? Anyway.
We Are Marshall is a typical guy movie-sports, ego and victory, all in a movie. Minus the chick. If you add in the chick then it becomes Jerry McGuire.

"These girls went waaaay Overboard,"
But as strong as I seem to think I am my distressing damsel,
She comes out at night when the moon's filled up and your eyes are
bright, then I think I simply aught to
Fall over, fall over, fall overboard, overboard.
Fall overboard just so you can catch me.
You can catch me.
-Ingrid Michaelson, Overboard
Only to Disney princesses or drama-attention-infatuation-hungry girls as well?
LOL it's both LAH.

Where's wisdom? B: Sorry, Wisdom left a long time ago. Last I heard, he was in Trinidad, enjoying the beach.
I like watching people but I hate it when people watch me. Sometimes, I see someone I thought I knew walk past me and then I realize it is that person, but I do nothing to acknowledge her, because I'm too scared to do so. Hahaha. I've seen two ex-debators so far.
I've done my own research and deduced that on average, I meet 6 people I know at AEON everyday.
I saw Eleny the other day, and her elder sister Inora, who also has a blog. Both of them look identical. Though I've never held a full conversation with Inora at school before, I still felt happy seeing and waving at her because I am seriously seriously lonely at work, other than God and my fellow workmen keeping me company.
Seriously, workMEN. Other than the cashier, I am the only girl there. Har har har, laugh all you want. I'm laughing here too, lol. Cherylyn, come by lah! You're the only one who hasn't seen me at work yet. Even your cousin already saw me. Anyway, I'm working on Sunday yeah?
I feel really really down because I realized I should have negotiated more with the supervisors before I started my job, you know, like Saturdays and Sunday mornings off to go to church, etc etc.
But I am determined not to stay down because my faith is not rattled each time I miss a youth meeting or church service. I still do my devotion every morning before I go anywhere, and I pray throughout the day for everyone and anyone that comes into mind.
BTW I am so thankful that I've got good bosses and I am not harassed in any way at work. One of my friends told me that at Sakae Sushi were she works, the boss curses and shouts at the workers (but you didn't hear it from me). The boss apparently is also the "much touted" 2nd most handsome guy in the whole of AEON but I seriously disgress, I mean, have you seen the guy at Pastamania? He is hotter than the oven that bakes their pizza!
Then there's the case of Haagen Dazs, were my friend who works there revealed to me that the person in charge sent a vulgar SMS to his female co-worker.
I am dissapointed and disgusted to hear these kind of news, but I can do nothing but blog about it and vow never to patronise their stores. I am not saying you should do the same, I am just blogging and telling others that I myself will not.
Anyway. For my birthday this year (3 months to go) I would like a full sized choir to sing Coldplay songs the whole day for me. That's not too much too ask, is it? I mean, some girls ask for Tiffany bracelets and cars and Swarvoski crystal-studded handphones and Jimmy Choos they don't even wear, and here I am asking for a small full-sized choir to entertain me, harhar. Oh, and Ingrid Michaelson songs too, just Keep Breathing and Overboard, never mind the fact that it will make the singers seriously seriously sad at the end of the song, lol.
World Youth Choir is looking for singers! You need to be able to sight read and sing a folk song, aria or lieder at the audition to be held next Saturday at OUG, KL.
Is Phantom of the Opera an aria? Don't answer that.

you're so vain, you think this blog is about you
Things I want to do this year.
1. Watch F1 in Sepang
2. Shopping spree
-Something from Blook
-A pair of sneakers
-Coldplay CD from Rock Corner
-A Bible or two
-Something Justin Timberlake-ish; vest and collared white long sleeved shirt/his CD
3. Busk/Carol
4. Be nice
5. Go to school
6. Get my SPM results
7. Tag along with Shannon to old folk's home
8. Mission trip? My life is a mission on its own anyway.
9. Visit a special someone in Singpaore (It's always a guy, isn't it?)
10.Bernard Chandran
It really ticks me off to read about teens confessing they are in love with their so-called significant other. I wish they'd look past the temporal feelings.
They may say love is a different thing and that those kind of love is totally acceptable. But the thing is, they don't even know how to draw the line between kasih sayang and cinta, so how can you believe what they say?
It's okay to have crushes, but when you start talking about relationships like you're some kind of pro, it creeps me out. Not only does it creep me out. You can lecture me all you want about how okay it is to be dating now but I'm so sorry to say I will not listen to that because you have to mirror yourself before you say that.
Your emotions sway more than a coconut tree at Morib. Me being a 50KG weight, I cannot hang on to that tree for long, you know?
Ah goodnight I'm pooped.

blows your non-existent socks off
Do you know the song Bittersweet Symphony, the song in Cruel Intentions that always gets stuck in your head? Here's the orchestral version of it. Blew my SOCKS off man, and I wasn't even wearing socks! So worth the long wait for it to load.
brushing your teeth with someone else's toothbrush
Shiver by Coldplay-possibly one of the most ingeniously crafted musical mechanisms with lyrics full of repeated meanings, ever.
"so I look in your direction
but you pay me no attention, do you?
I know you don't listen to me
'cos you say you see straight through me, don't you?"
