market/marriage

One reason I like my Marketing class is listening to the lecturer diss other private institutions. Even if you do study at where he disses you'll still be entertained because it's the truth that he says.

So, little kids, do you know why Taylor's have the biggest advertising team and most possibly the most effective one? Because they make you pay for it when you study there. Like protection money.

I was at a wedding today-and the pastor said this, just before the ceremony started-"Please refrain from taking pictures of the ceremony as the couple have hired photographers to take pictures. You can take pictures after the service."

????

I thought it was more of an anti-piracy statement than a "do not disturb the ceremony" thing.

tuesday

She swung from vine to vine, each looking more like a snake than the last, until she fell to the soft ground coated with grass.

She sprung up as abruptly as she fell and started sprinting like a pack of wolves were after her. Run, run, run, run, she ran over the small hills, under big branches of drooping trees and stepped on round pebbles that lined the stream she faced.

She ran into the stream and didn't stop running eventhough the stream was filled with slimy seaweeds and fishes all around. She ran and ran and the water splashed all around her, and the pink flamingos nearby flew away from her.

As she reached the other side, she climbed one of the biggest rock formations you can ever imagine. The jagged edges threaten to tear her skin but she held on tight and climbed up the monstrosity of a rock.

She pulled herself higher and higher up the rock formation until she reached a small cave, no higher than three feet and only two feet wide. She struggeld to go in the cave and pulled herself through all that muck and moss.

Muck and moss, muck and moss, dead insects, muck and more moss.

After what seemed like an hour of crawling in the dark, muck and yes, moss, she finally reached the opening. Light was filling her eyes, bit by bit and she was soon on the other end of the rock formation.

Her eyes searched the clearing in front of her with razor-sharpness and soon found the old oak tree.

She climbed the tree as swift as a bear could and had to search the whole circumference of the huge tree for a hole.

She finally found it, and there was her secret stash of...

chocolate.

You know, if only we had the strength and the enthusiasm to run the race for God, then wow.

card tricks

Have you tried A&W's wafers? They are really really nyummy to eat, all-time nyummy food since i was young.

The hotness of the waffles, the sweet syrup on top of the cool vanilla ice-cream and the optional fatty butter you can mash all together.

The best way to eat should be filling each waffle hole with ice cream. Fun game too.

So, I was at cell the other night where we were just innocently talking about issues and tissues (haha) when suddenly...

...these were pulled out!

I'm sure you know who these belong to, judging by the color isself.

Here is the culprit, dealing cards...

...with an accomplice! Gasp!

The cards are nicely arranged according to color and all...

The accomplice is a victim! She was DUPED!

Black-and-white proof.
The picture worth a million dollars.
Jeng jeng jeng!
"So? Chor Tai Tee or Black Jack?"

I know what you're thinking, gambling? At cell? No, not really. Zlwin was just practising some of his card tricks on us. Needless to say, we fell for every trick he pulled.

Nah.

Since all of us in the cell were college-going people, we knew what was going to happen before it happened. So it wasn't as fun as it could be if we were kids. Haha.

Worshipping?
Not really. Check out his fingers!

The Lord tells his secrets to those who respect him.

I found this in the school magazine. It was taken during the sports day.

What you don't know is...

I still think Laksamana should have a Yellow Coverage Fellow mascot instead of that princess.

to the miracle worker

*"Miracle worker" is the term coined by Khadijah for Daryl in due respect for his successful mission of making Additional Mathematics tolerable to us for two years, thus helping us to obtain acceptable (in Khadi's case, REMARKABLE) grades for the SPM.

Happy Birthday,
Daryl Quay!
It's your turn to be eighteen
Let's hope you'll continue to be mean
Because that's just who you are
......And I can't find anything that rhymes with "are".

You are a real friend, and like other people who make me smile (and can stand my PMS outbursts) I thank God for you.

It's very nice to have a friend like you with whom I can talk to about...
Maroon 5

JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE! Can you say Sexy Back? Oh, which reminds me, when you're back, Khadi and I are going to bring a portable radio and blast Sexy Back all over Klang. And you're going to LOVE 4 Minutes.

But we don't only talk about fluffy popcorn girlish teenagerish stuff. We also chat over intelligent, sarcastic, medical humor...

And other stuff. Like ponies, rainbows, politics and Khadi, a really interesting subject to discuss especially when she's not around.

Oops.

Speaking of which, she's been like this:

since you got on an aeroplane, never to return again, but always in her heart. Oh! This love has taken it's toll on me, she said-Oh crap I'm typing out Maroon 5 lyrics. Sorry!

Happy birthday again.

You rock!

coldplay's latest single, violet hills released via the internet...

...is a proof of viral marketing.

From this song, I can tell that they've shaken off all their raw indie-ness in Parachutes to fit into the market of young people. You can tell by the loudness that it's something their producers got them to do.

It's sort of...salt with sour plums. Very nice, and the title of the song reminds me of The Beatle's Strawberry Fields.

At the end though, with just the piano, Coldplay proves that it is still Coldplay by retaining that dash of originality no band can pull off just as right.

The last lines are beautiful-like something you can put into Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

It'll be a hit on Mix, but never on Hitz. Coldplay is always an automatic Mix FM material lah.

EDIT: I just realized Violet Hill is politically-charged! How 21st century; all songs will contain politic-related statements. Of course, this is not the first time Coldplay has done this, refer to Politik (A Rush of Blood to the Head).

I took my love down to violet hill
There we sat in snow
All that time she was silent still
So if you love me
Won't you let me know?

(source:wikipedia)

There was an interesting article in The Star about parkour, the art of navigating through obstacles in the city, etc. (Parkour was also used in an episode of CSI:New York. I like that ep.)

It is seriously interesting, and given the chance I'd jump at the opportunity to do something like that.

I mean, can you imagine all the traffic jams you get to avoid?

However.

It will be great to just run away from all the distractions and challenging things in life though. Just as a form of saying "I cannot stand this anymore." with sensibility, rationality and then bursting into physical unstability through the concrete jungle, all the while avoiding civilans, etc.

"Their bodies were splendid, flexible, nimble, skillful, enduring, resistant and yet they had no other tutor in gymnastics but their lives in nature."
-Georges Hebert on the indigenous tribes in Africa.

The thing that stands out in the article was the principle of parkour that can be applied to life. The obstacles in front are challenges that will make you stronger (yes yes I know you've heard it a million times in Moral class).

"How are you?"
I was great until a few hours ago. Now I feel like itching my heart out. Well, not literally, but figuratively. Some things have shorter time, and others have too long a time which they don't deserve.

"What are you thinking now?"
Is Salvador Dali a chain of sandwhich deli? Can I ever see something that is worthwhile AARRGGGHH i want to pull my hair out in frustration. And no it's not the college for goodness sake it's not even a week yet how can I be sick of it.

"Can you say something smart now?"
Do not think that rich people are lazy, and do not think that they are tactful. They can be rich all they want, but there is the occasional one who thinks Starbucks has the best coffees, and decide to tell me that "Dome coffee ah, no good one. You want good coffee, go Starbucks".

Starbucks? Are you kidding me? Come on man. Wake up and smell the coffee beans! Then tell me if Dome's coffee is worse than Starbucks.

Why else would we have so many Starbucks regulars admitting to us that Dome's coffee is better than Starbucks, but they just go there for the Wifi? I bet they even go there to look cool. Come on, who doesn't, right? Once you're seen in Starbucks, you have that rep of being able to afford "taste". (I'm not saying you do what you do 'cos you have to do it, 'cos I go to Starbucks for their blended stuff too.)

I like the sweetness, but the Caramel Macchiatothat they had? Who are we kidding, that 'caramel' tasted exactly like sugar syrup. I'm sorry, maybe my tastebuds are sick. Honestly speaking I still like their blended stuff (and no I will not refer to their real names. no mood lah ish) but COME ON! The thing that they gave me was totally sugar syrup. Sugar syrup sugar syrup sugar syrup sugar syrup. Colored sugar syrup.

Ah, but our Flat White-a dose of freshly made espresso essence with a specific amount of frothed, hot and pearly milk-now that's a keeper. Usually taken with a helping of raw sugar, this java will drip over your lips, have a small victory dance on your toungue and slide down your throat beautifully, leaving a delicious, sweet aftertaste that only Dome coffee can give. Go ahead, throw the tomatoes.

"The thing that gets at you most while working at Dome?"
Customers who come in and ask if we have what Starbucks have. HELLO, read the signage in front lah, this is Dome. We have pies, pastas, etc and extremely fine coffees, but we don't call our baristas BEAR-istas.

But to each his own
