...is a proof of viral marketing.
From this song, I can tell that they've shaken off all their raw indie-ness in Parachutes to fit into the market of young people. You can tell by the loudness that it's something their producers got them to do.
It's sort of...salt with sour plums. Very nice, and the title of the song reminds me of The Beatle's Strawberry Fields.
At the end though, with just the piano, Coldplay proves that it is still Coldplay by retaining that dash of originality no band can pull off just as right.
The last lines are beautiful-like something you can put into Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
It'll be a hit on Mix, but never on Hitz. Coldplay is always an automatic Mix FM material lah.
EDIT: I just realized Violet Hill is politically-charged! How 21st century; all songs will contain politic-related statements. Of course, this is not the first time Coldplay has done this, refer to Politik (A Rush of Blood to the Head).
I took my love down to violet hill
There we sat in snow
All that time she was silent still
So if you love me
Won't you let me know?

When I saw that Coldplay's upcoming album will be titled 'Viva La Vida', I was like what? Interesting title for an album but 'VIVA LA VIDA'? Sounds like a Ricky Martin song (remember Livin La Viva Loca'?). Just imagine Coldplay doing a music video with a lot of hot chicks in it. But yea, the album artwork is really good, probably the best of all their albums!
Speaking about their latest song, 'Violet Hills', I didn't quite like it when I first listened to it and I thought the song was a little bit hard to digest.
2nd time listening to it, i started to like it.
After listening to it 3 times, I thought the song was awesome and I love it.
By the 4th time listening to it, Coldplay FREAKIN' ROCKS!
And after listening to it over and over again the whole night, I wished Chris Martin was gay. Lol.
P/S: Hitz.fm sucks... I love Mix Fm! Haha
That was what I thought, too! But there is the saying Viva La Dolce Vita right, which was something about living life, so it's rather restrospective for them lah. But "Death and All His Friends" sound like they've gone emo. The album artwork, yup, that is good!
It would be interesting to see a Coldplay MV with hot chicks though. And maybe they should collaborate with Timbaland on a song; everyone's doing it.
Oh no, Chris Martin shouldn't be gay; for your sake, he should be a Christina Martin. But yeah, it is a sweet, sweet song. Do you think it was for Gwyneth?
Goodness look! Anudder Coldplay fan! This is so awesome! Violet Hill worried me at first actually, because after listening to it 15 times I still don't remember the melody or tune of it, and I'm like, hmm....but I'm willing to give it a chance, I'm pretty sure it'll grow on me.
Personally my favourite Coldplay album is A Rush Of Blood. I kinda sorta hated X&Y.
I love their new sound though. All those lovely violins on Viva la Vida was a spectacularly pleasant surprise.
High five BAP!
Yeah, most people who loved A Rush of Blood to the Head/Paarachutes don't seem to like X & Y very much. Maybe 'cos they were in that "commercialisation" phase, like Linkin Park in Minutes to Midnight.
High five back!
Yeah I'm not the biggest fan of X&Y as an album, no.It wasn't even the commercialisation of it...no actually, it was. I think in X&Y they were trying to be something they're not, and for me it didn't feel quite right.I think I like A Rush Of Blood best, simply because it's like this perfect balance between Parachutes and X&Y, so.
