Let me tell you what happened last Sunday. Pastor Henry was at church, preaching specially for Father's Day. He then introduced Deborah to the church-she's this pint-sized 11-year old, and she was going to preach a sermon.

"Not just any sermon, it will be the best sermon you've ever heard!" says Pastor Henry.

So Deborah went on stage and started reciting chapters 5, 6 AND 7 of Matthew.

Why am I pointing this out? Deborah did not read it straight from the Bible like you and I would have. She read it straight from her MEMORY.

I am not kidding you. If you want I can give you a VCD of last Sunday's service.

This, of course, has happened before-there was the little boy of about 8 who recited all of Psalm 91, and his 5 year old brother had Matthew 5 memorized.

It is amazing what God can do with these kids.

Brings me to Matthew 19:14-

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

FOOD BANK
The church always had two big boxes at the foyer for dry food items. These will be rationed for poorer families around the town. But as we all know, petrol and rice prices have risen drastically. It's hard to imagine how to live without money and all, and how to contribute to those who need it more.

So. As you can imagine (or not), Pastor Ronald said this the Sunday before:

"All of us have a little oil with us. Resources. Little oil. We have to keep asking God for expansion, miracles, more resources to expand. Christians are to expand, not to shrink back."

Please bear in mind that we are blessed to bless others. Not to keep the blessings to ourselves.

So, Pastor Ronald challenged the church-50 bags of rice(or was it 100?) by the next week. Raise your hand if you want to contribute to the food bank, he said.

And, just like that-wow. It's totally amazing what God can do, I tell you, because in every line, there were at least two or three hands up. And there are 30+ lines of chairs in the church, not counting the balcony.
It's times like these that really really....leaves you speechless as to what God can do. I kid you not again.

"God will provide" were the words stitched on a purse I once saw.
If, according to the Bible, God will provide for the sparrows, won't He provide even more for you?

My review of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.

-Some reviews I read notes that this Narnia is more Christian-ish than the previous one. I don't see the Christian elements much at all in this installment. It was more evident in the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe to me. I mean, the resurrection of Aslan and all that.

-The fight scenes are at par with the one in the previous movie. I know it's bad to compare, but I felt like PC didn't have the energy or the soul of the battle between evil and good in it.
Compare the battle of the evil uncle with the battle with the White Witch.


-The battle scenes can never be on par with LOTR. Don't even bother comparing epic proportions of mega-coolness with something Disney, that's just sad. I don't like LOTR. Never did, never will.

-The costumes are pretty. And so are the sceneries. Where did they shoot this movie anyway? New Zealand?



-Prince Caspian? Hot?

Are you KIDDING me? Am I the only female on earth who thinks this guy is not hot?

Jazz musician Zailan Razak and his son Danial will be at my college tomorrow to talk about music and perform a litte bit. He is this jazz musicians
who, while at the States worked with Dennis Rowland, Sister Sledge and many others.

He also performed with Grover Washington (Just the Two of Us), Spyro Gyra and other jazz musicians I've never heard of.

Region-wise, this guy has worked with Asia's leading percussionist and founder of Asiabeat project, Lewis Pragasam (don't tell me you don't know this guy! [okay I didn't either but my dad says he's the best. Go Google lah.]), Dayang Nurfaizah, jazz keyboardist Michael Veerapan (ask your dad-he might know these people) and lots more.

Zailan Razak also has a band himself, called the Zailan Razak Project. They've performed at Penang Jazz and Java Jazz Festivals and are going to perform at Alexis Ampang Bistro and Bar.

Summer Splash sounded like a pure waste of time! Like any teenager-ish event that would have made me roll my eyes. I mean, here I am, reading these blog posts I Googled and rolling my eyes at the pictures.

Gosh. Shannon is SO right. Hooligans are the future leaders of Malaysia. I like this guy's post in which he has compiled a bunch of blog links.

On another note, I read about the Theater for Young People in The Star today. Sounds superbly interesting.

MTV Asia Awards 2008 in Malaysia

MTV Asia Awards Lands In Malaysia

Finally! After years of having it in places like Thailand and Singapore, the 2008 MTV Asia Awards will be taking place in Malaysia -- specifically Genting Highland's Arena Of Stars.

Happening this 2 August, the event will be hosted by actor/30 Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto. Oh yeah, he's coming to town and you can see him in the flesh if you score a ticket to the big do!

A total of 16 awards will be handed out (nine regional and seven international), including Breakthrough Artiste, The Innovation Award and edc Style Award. Five sets of live acts are expected to perform that night but those names will be revealed closer to the party night.

To find out how you can get your hands on tickets, check out the official website from 14 June onwards. [There will even be a chance to win exclusive VIP access to the event. Plus, that lucky winner could end up sitting next to his/her idol!]

Yea....I was wondering when they'd pass by Bali and Bangkok for Kuala Lumpur. Genting. Whatever lah, both also almost the same.

It would be great to go for this. More so if Coldplay is a nominee/will be performing at the awards. WOOT nevermind the fact that you can't run away from the likes of Mawi and Siti.

Waffles (woh-fels)

Waffle World is located at Sunway Pyramid, where everything seems to be at now. There's Subway, Wendy's, Carls' Jr, J.CO Donuts, Jusco and another anchor tenant, also a departmental store which I've forgotten. I think it was Parkson.

They have soups, pastas, sandwiches, coffees and shakes, just like other shops these days. Their sandwhiches are really imaginative-instead of bread, you can choose to have tuna, chicken ham or salmon on waffles! Nyum.

(Speaking of shrimp, has anyone been to Bubba Gump Shrimp Thingy at the Curve? The concept of the shop is inspired by Forrest Gump. The prices are really, really, really sky-high!)

The most basic waffle you can get here, I think, should be the Traditional Waffle-pictured here with extra maple syrup. Daryl had this one.


Iona had the Caramel Banana Waffle. Caramel sauce drizzles the vanilla ice-cream and on the slices of banana too.


I won't tell you what Khadi and I had, but Izzatie had this:

Two scoops of premium strawberry ice-cream, toasted almond flakes and extra chocolate syrup.

The waffles are deliciously warm and sweet, and the ice-cream is not too runny either-just rightly frozen. Just a tip, if you're planning to have a waffle there, one scoop of ice-cream is more than enough.

They've got five types of ice-cream.

The maple syrup was sweet. They had three types of toppings, I think-Choc, Maple and Honey.

The service is really nothing to shout about. The iced cappuccinoes that Khadi and Daryl ordered did not look like iced cappuccinoes. The other one looked more like iced chocolate. No apologies, just "This one is iced cappuccino. It just looks different because it's blended," uh-HUH.



See the color difference? They ordered the same thing.


So I highly recommend this place for waffles, if you're in the area. I'd rather not try their hot dogs. 1901 is just opposite the shop anyway.

The best chicken rice is at a small stall in Pandamaran. Panda-Maran. It's in one of those two lanes of stalls on the roadside.

The rice is not thick like other shops', and the smell is so fragrant, so tempting that I can live on this rice only for the rest of my life!


Heart shape. Oh sue me, you know I'm a girl. Girls are sensitive and they like heart shapes. Anyway after I took the picture I smothered the rice with the delicious black sauce till not a single grain of white rice was to be seen. Kidney failure, anyone?

The white chicken meat, less cholesterol. I still cannot order this thing in Hokkien, so wherever I go I need my parents to place the order. Small strands of bean sprouts, thick and juicy are buried under the mass of chicken meat.


The meat is delicious! Not too tough but not slimy as well. Has taste and none of the stinkyness of other chicken rice.
The soup to wash the rice down is nyummy as well. Lots of vegetable bits (like kimchi) if you're lucky.

It's usually packed at lunch time. Arrive slightly before noon when no one's there, then wait for the lunch crowd. Packed to the brim!

God bless all of you out there who need His blessings. You can always stand under His umbrella.

The winged animals which debuted to you as a kid in Snow White? What do you think about them?

Dirty? Savage? Horrendous? Beyond-words-to-describe?

Well, before you decide on what to call these huge birds, read this. It opened my mind to another side of vultures. They're amazing creatures in reality.

We went to Sri Pentas the other day because 8TV Quickie wanted me to host a special for the holidays. So there I was, scheduled to host a talkshow with Rina Omar, Aishah Sinclair and a mystery guest.






NAH just kidding. We went there to pick up the prize I won for my sister. For my sister. Why? I do not know. Ask her.
This is it:



If you ask me how was Panic at the Disco's Pretty Odd, you have to direct that question to my sister (again) because she won't let me breathe anywhere near it.

The whole process of winning-the-prize-and-giving-it-to-somebody-else-and-never-seeing-it-ever-again sounds like some telenovela where the girl gives away her newborn baby to a childless couple. Very dramatic, but we all know the ending.

Afterwards we went to Ikea to sample Swedish meatballs and ginger krakers. Mmm....ginger krakers. Is that how you spell it? K-R-A-K-E-R-S? Ah, whatever, it sounds more attractive, foreign and delicious that way.


We also bought this very cute guy called Chris. Can you believe it, Ikea sells guys! Chris was RM 19.90.


He likes it when people stick sharp stuff into his body. He's nowhere near Chris Martin, but proves to be very useful for important notes.
