“Don’t take anything personally. Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.”

more thoughts

Whenever I hear of people saying "We're on our own in this world," I feel like shaking their shoulders and telling them "No, we're not! Look up!" and look at the vastness of the blue sky, or the rolling thunder, or the beautiful starry night-and sharing with them how there IS a God of love looking at us. If you want, come and poke me in real life and I'll tell you more.

What I do in life, it's not blind optimism. If there's one thing I'm not, I'm never optimistical to the point of being indifferent to suffering, and I'm sure everyone also has that measure of optimism.

Jue Lyn's latest post is heart warming! I laughed at some parts. Hahaha.

January Low & Monoloque performing Jika Aku Seorang Robot
If I were a robot...

(source unknown)

There weren't many performances that we could catch. This was January Low (dancer) and Monoloque (alt rock band) in their 30 minute slot.
If Teacher Pen did not teach us about initiation and Bawanie didn't point it out, I would have sat through the whole set thinking "Whaaaaaat are these people doing?!"

Red and white sparklers.
It smelt like Chinese New Year. Ah, nostalgia!

Spaghetti and meatballs at Murni's!

Last year's Urbanscapes was definitely more action-packed. More performing arts, more music (Zouk tent was obviously missing this year), more rare theatrical stuff. If Urbanscapes 2009 was boiling, U10 was just simmering.

No shuttle van service from KTM/LRT Sentul this year.
No Hollywood sign this year-they had flimsy crepe paper for the signage.
No Tweet deck, but Flying Mouse 365 was there! And Threadless tees going for RM 49.

And the ticket price increased from RM 25 to RM 30. What value did the organizers add through the increase of the ticket price? Not much! If next year's Urbanscapes is still the same line up with same ticket price and same attractions, I may think twice about going. Sad but true!

the language of vuvuzelas

mao's last dancer

Today we watched Mao's Last Dancer, which is an Australian movie about a Chinese dancer from the brinks of poverty and his foray into the American ballet scene. Interesting story, well crafted (based on a true story) but it has yet to be released in the US and might not see the light of day here due to the communist principles portrayed in the movie.

The image for the poster is failing to load...so I might put it up sometime later this week :)
hope you have a great week!

i would be you, you would be me

2 am already. Cannot sleep. Feeling consumed by something! My father's still awake too (he always sleeps this late).

Robin Thicke! (Such a pretty name, Robin) Probably the most underrated artiste out there. His most popular song, Lost Without You is too sappy for my liking, so I cringe everytime I hear it. Aiyo, jiwang intense man.

This one, Dreamworld, is a wunnerful song. I heard it on Hitz TV (because Hitz fm is lousy and Channel V is no more D:) It's so cute and whimsical and dreamy too. The music video is one that personifies my creative style, actually-down to the dot. The almost-sepia tones, very airy feeling, boho pattern and style-sangat cantik lah. I like everything, except the ladies in lingerie. Like, stop selling stuff with women and stop calling exhibitionism beauty!

Ahh! I finally found a song I really liked but couldn't find what it was due to lack of lyrics! ^^ Turns out, it has been Sergio Mendes' Mas Que Nada from 1966. I don't know who's the guy, but his music sounds well-known. He's about 69 now. (The latest album he made, Timeless, had collaborators such as BEP and Justin Timberlake.) Here's the latest version of Mas Que Nada with the Black Eyed Peas:

happy father's day!

I like classes. I like assignments-presentations that lecturers ask you to complete in 3 days and are worth 30% of your overall grade. But I do not like long assignments that take 3 months to complete. It gives me space to procrastinate. Like. Now. HAHA! kidding. going back to it soon.
