how tall are you?

Rihanna's Disturbia is very unimaginative.

The song builds up like how it's supposed to.
The music video finds its inspiration in Michael Jackson's Thriller.
Her performance of the song at MTV VMA 2008 is slightly generic.

But I am digging the lyrics!

They seem to say something about backsliding Christians.

What's wrong with me?
Why do I feel like this?
I'm going crazy now

No more gas in the rig
Can't even get it started (No more fuel in the spirit to light up the passion)
Nothing heard, nothing said
Can't even speak about it (No one tells you that you've backslidden, you don't admit it yourself) All my life on my head
Don't want to think about it (Your relationship with God is the only thing in your mind but you don't want to think about it)
Feels like I'm going insane
Yeah (self-explanatory)

It's a thief in the night
To come and grab you (Backsliding steals your praying time-especially the prayer you say at night before bed)
It can creep up inside you
And consume you (The influences of the world will consume you by the music you listen to, the shows that you watch, etc)
A disease of the mind
It can control you (If you let the world's influences get into your mind, it will control what you say and what you do)
It's too close for comfort

Throw on your break lights
We're in the city of wonder
Ain't gonna play nice
Watch out, you might just go under
Better think twice
Your train of thought will be altered (If, once, you set your eyes on God, now when you backslide your mind track will change)
So if you must faulter be wise (If you must backslide be wise lah)
Your mind is in disturbia
It's like the darkness is the light (The darkness cannot be light. The darkness can only be overpowered by light)
Disturbia
Am I scaring you tonight
Your mind is in disturbia
Ain't used to what you like
Disturbia
Disturbia

Faded pictures on the wall
It's like they talkin' to me (The people who see you backslide DO want to talk to you. They pray for you. Why won't they want to talk to you?)
Disconnectin' your call
Your phone don't even ring
I gotta get out
Or figure this shit out (You cannot figure out your sudden loss of faith-but don't lose it)
It's too close for comfort (You may feel sin is close, but God is closer-He is in you)

God bless those who have went astray for far too long.

It's time to come home.
